3rd & 4th Grade - Elemental Music

Elemental Music & Movement

The Romoland School District elemental music curriculum consists of a well-planned sequence of developmentally appropriate experiences leading to clearly defined skills and knowledge. The program is designed to actively involve students of all learning modalities using materials carefully selected for their aesthetic value. The RSD elemental music curriculum is aligned with the National Core Arts Standards.  Music activities include many opportunities for students to sing, play instruments, move to music, listen and analyze, learn musical notation, create, and perform.

Soprano Recorders

Where can I get one?

At RSD we have recorders that your student can use, however if you wish to purchase one you can do so for around $5. The specific look might be slightly different depending on the brand, but the basic sound and technique of the instrument is the same.   If choosing to purchase a soprano recorder please make sure it has Baroque Fingering NOT German Fingering.

Recomended brands include:

Angel, Aulos, Peripole, and Yamaha.

Angel Recorder

How do you clean them?

Recorders are not shared by students. All instruments, cleaning rods, and cases are clearly labeled. At the end of each year the recorders and cleaning rags are washed before summer break so that they will be clean for the next school year.
