Welcome & Introduction
Welcome & Introduction
Dear Parents/Guardians and Students!
What is a school counselor?
A school counselor is a counselor and educator who works in schools to address the social-emotional, academic, and college and career needs of all students. The role of the school counselor is to counsel, consult, and collaborate with students, parents/guardians, staff, administration, and other stakeholders to ensure that all students have access to a comprehensive school counseling program.
All students will receive core curriculum lessons in their class once per month. Short-term individual and group counseling services are available to students in need. ‘Need’ is determined by attendance, academic, and behavior data as well as self, teacher, or parent referral. Should a student/family have a greater need for services, the school counselor will provide information/referral for additional school and community resources.
*All subjects discussed remain confidential unless the student requests or consents to the disclosure of information to another interested person or as required by mandated reporting laws. Information will remain confidential unless disclosure is required to prevent clear and imminent danger to the student or others.
